We start from Compatsch and walk towards the Saltner Hut which lies at the foot of the Schlern mountain range. Enjoying the lush meadows and the cool freshness of the forests we walk through on the first part of the hike. Later our way will lead us up along serpentine paths past mountain pines towards the Schlern hut. We soon reach the Schlern plateau with its endless meadows. This is when you can finally see the Schlern hut – the perfect time for a lunch break. Before heading back – and if you are fit enough, we will hike our way up to the Petz, the highest point of the Schlern mountain range with its summit cross at 2,564m. Take your time to enjoy the glorious view of the Ötztal glacier, the Stubai glacier, the Adamello and Ortler alps, the Langkofel and Plattkofel and the Sella mountain range.
