2-day tour crossing Sciliar Mountain with overnight stay
Day 1:
Sciliar Mountain is one of the symbols of South Tyrol. Due to the characteristic shape, this mountain is easily distinguishable from the others. At the top, there is a broad summit plateau from where you can admire the giant high-alpine plateau of Alpe di Siusi to the north. There are several ascent routes. We start from Alpe di Siusi. Above the road, we take the trail to Fiè and Fiè Lake, then continue to Tuff pasture and the turn off to Hofer Alpl. Now, the truly panoramic section begins: A trail with square-edged larch posts has been created in a gorge. We pass Sesselschwaige and cross the alpine pastures to Schlernhaus, where we will stay for the night. From here, you can hike up to the summit in about 20 minutes on a rocky but easy trail.

Alternative route for the first day:
Sciliar is a mountain with a rich history. Due to its characteristic silhouette, it has become a symbol of South Tyrol. From the cable car mountain station, an easy uphill path leads through splendid alpine pastures to 1,960 metres in altitude, and then 130 metres of altitude downhill to Saltner pasture and a bridge. From here, a stony and steep trail leads to Schlernhaus via the so-called Tourist Trail.

Day 2:
From Schlernhaus, there is an almost level path across the high-alpine pasture. After reaching the western side of Cima di Terrarossa, the serpentine trail takes you to the upper edge of Bärenlochtal Valley at the end of Ciamin Valley. From there, the trail leads you through the dark Wengener Laven to Tierser Alpl Hut (2,444 metres). The return path from Tierser Alpl to Alpe di Siusi begins with the ascent to Forcella Denti di Terrarossa (2,499 metres). Then, a serpentine trail leads down to the Goldknopf Hotel (2,078 metres). Finally, a wide service road takes you past the Panorama Hotel back to the starting point on the western side of Alpe di Siusi.
